ARC Engineering were appointed by Walls Construction Limited to manufacture 170 balconies for their high profile Clay Farm Residential Apartment Block Project. The two apartment blocks named Block E7 and Block G were designed with 52 and 118 balconies respectively. The vertical arrays of balconies number from 4 to 6 depending on the number of floors and apartment configuration within each apartment block
The 170 balconies consist of a welded base frame fitted with an aluminium soffit panel beneath and composite decking board above. The bases are then fitted with a combination of powder-coated flashings, glazed balustrades and privacy screens depending on each balcony’s location on the apartment block façade.
Integrated into the balcony design is a gravity-draining soffit gutter system which is then integrated into the buildings rainwater downpipe infrastructure.
The installation commenced in November 2021 with completion February 2022. Balconies are transported to site 90% complete, with only the support columns, side balustrades and/or privacy screens needing to be installed on site prior to lifting. ARC’s balcony installation team aims to install an average of 4 balconies per day using a combination of the site tower crane and mobile boom lift.
